My name is Wendy and I am a grateful recovering addict. I have been clean several years now and in the process of my recovery, I am now living a life that I could only have imagined years ago.
My heart’s desire is to bring hope through encouragement to those who feel as if they are a lost cause ; those who seem to be unable to do the right thing; those who cannot find a desire to go on; those who feel as though they serve no purpose in this universe; those who feel as though they are unlovable; those who fear facing their lives and consequences; those who feel like everyone has turned their back on them; this list could go on and on.
Whether your an addict or not, life becomes difficult at times and there are moments when some of us just can’t seem to find purpose and desire. This page is for anyone who is struggling in any area of their life. I am here to bring you posts and photos that will hopefully lift your spirits; to give back some of the hope and love that was given to me when I no longer that I belonged or was wanted.
Wings of Encouragement was originally created for the soul purpose of giving encouragement to those who needed that extra push, that 5 more minutes of care and attention. Ones that need to know that there is a way for them to be released from their self-made prisons.
Depression has become such a huge problem in our society. Once we get in this state, isolation creeps into our lives and before we know we have cut ourselves off from the world. We are no longer living life, we are just hiding out waiting on it to pass us by. This is a state that sometimes creates devastating results and if I can help to prevent just one of those casualties I will be forever grateful and will have served my purpose for this page.
I work at a treatment facility for Alcohol and Addiction disorders. I work with both the clients and the family members and it is an exciting journey filled with many blessings. I am currently working on expanding Wings of Encouragement so I am able to reach more people. I want to reach as many people as possible. I am also in the process of writing a book “I am a Survivor” (of which my husband helped me choose the title – and if you knew my husband you would know how much of a miracle that is), I am also working on some poetry and Wings of Encouragement currently has a facebook page that was created a couple of months ago. I will be taking my Certification Exam on December 10th for my Professional Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselor Certification. I am nervous but excited. So yes my life is full; however I want you to know that it hasn’t always been that way. About 4 years ago I was in active addiction and everything had been stripped from me. My life was hell and I thought I would die using. However God saw fit to have another plan for me. I want everyone to know this sort of life is possible for them also.
While there are certain steps I must take for my recovery; I have come to learn other ways of life that have proven themselves highly successful; The Power of Positivity, Power of Visualization and the Law of Attraction.
My beliefs are that my God created me with all that I need to be happy, joyous, free & prosperous; I am given a Universe that works for me when I reach out and believe. There is so much beauty in this world that my eyes were once too blind to see. I choose to look at things in a positive manner because I choose not to be miserable; its as simple as that. Now don’t get me wrong there are days I get in a funk, but I do what I have learned to do and all is well once again.
I want you all to know that no matter what you have been through or are going through at this moment; when you reach out and grab hold of someone to release your pain ; amazing things begin to happen. Whether you have issues with addiction, sexual, mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual abuse (of which most of us do at some time in our lives) I am here to tell you ,from experience, that you don’t have to let it hold you down any longer. There is a better way to live life than in fear and confusion.
Come join us here at Wings of Encouragement and hopefully you will find some answers that may help. Please feel free to ask questions or leave comments;for they are welcome.
I am new at this blogging and facebook and I am loving it. I truly had a passion for reaching out to a hurting world and I hope that you will join us.
